I read Mikael Karrvajalka by Mika Waltari last week... my teacheer recommended it to me, what, five years ago and NOW I picked it up...

procastrinating. My NaNo is killing me.

The Legacy of the Drow Collectors Edition, finally something back from the Dark Elf Trilogy (missed it in the IWD Trilogy) The eviliness of the Drow, and Vierna is hot

 

Just finished reading 'the lone drow' see for further description in the same named topic in this forum.

Now reading 'the light fantastic' a discworld novel.

 

I haven't read other than school books in looong time... philosophy, psychology, biology... blergh... hopefully I have exams of them this week and I don't have to read them anymore.

One book I got from school is Aldolus Huxley's Brave New World. And I have to write an essay about sexuality in that book.

When I have time, I'll finish Sea of Swords, and maybe start reading LotR again.

 

Brave New World should be very good, at least I've heard so...

 

I finally.... finally, finally, finally... started the Robin Hobb books.
Soo.. I just read Assasin's Apprentice and I'm about halfway through Royal Assasin. I haven't even noticed yet that the entire collection is setting me back a pretty penny. It's just so amazing...

 

*sigh* Didn't sleep last nightm,, and read Robert (?) McNabb's Firwewall and Pratchett's Night Watch.

I like Fitrewall... it's set mostly in Finland and partly in estonia. I don'ytt like the way it presents Estonia, but I found it amusingg that I was, wghen I first read the book, perhaps a hundred meters away from some of the pplaces where the book had scenes...

The Changeling Sea by Patricia McKillip. Unlike her other books, it's "young adult" fare, but it's still a great story.

 

I have just finished "Disgrace" my J.M Coetzee. My very first nobel prize winner and I am proud to say that I somewhat liked it. I cant really put the finger on what I liked but the book had me reading and the characters made me feel, mostly anger but still.

 

I started reading and playing FR solo adventure named 'Knight of the Living Dead' last night. That book is over 14 years old. It has interesting story: player character, an undead paladin, who remembers nothing about his past, tries to save city of Waterdeep from other undead (PS:T comes to mind, doesn't it?)

I can join in the Nobel laureate reading myself, having just finished "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" - Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Good read.

Currently on "Dude where's my country?" - Michael Moore and "Shadow Puppets" - Orson Scott Card. Good stuff!

 

Card's Shadow books are the true sequels to Ender's game in my opinion, true to the style and spirit of that marvelous novel. Not nearly as good, especially not in the later instalments but still a lot more interesting to read than "Xenocide" and "Speaker of the dead" and those. Card paints up a very simplistic world though but even so it works, ethnic prejudices galore!

 

I'm going to start in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I've heard good things about it.

 

Just finished two which I urge all of you to check out - Mick Foley's "Tietam Brown" and Steven Sherrill's "The Minotaur takes a Cigarette Break". Also started on Michael Asher's "The Eye Of Ra". Bit slow so far.
