    I think I've got it by process of elimination and illogic.
    1. Tory is the british conservative party (possibly faulty premise as it's a guess).
    2. If 1 is true then the likelihood is that we are talking poets in the 18th/19th century (most of the 20th century poets were socialist if political but also atheist at least).
    3. If 2 is true then we're left with either the lake poets or the romantics the lake poets were never really concerned with politics
    4. Of the romantics only was really political and this does sound like something he'd say so....
