Why are women drawn to a man's muscles and bodily hair (and cars and wallets)?

I found I got considerably more attention from girls after I shed the "Molson muscle" I carried around with me during my teenage days.

    (snicker, snicker)

    Oh dear, IMHO, once again.

Women are not exactly attracted to wallets, nice cars, and nice houses, ect. What tends to come with those things, when a guy has obtained them, is confidence.

One of the most sexy things to most women, I think, is confidence. When a woman finds a man who is attractive (to her) and who is confident in himself, where is life is, and where he wants to go, nothing is more sexy than that!!

Of course, please don't confuse confidence, with arrogance and snobishness!

As for the way a guy looks....some hair is ok, and in shape is VERY good!! However, tooooo much of either, is well.......kinda gross. And, unless a woman herself does not have "brains", she is almost always looking for a guy, that does. :)

Heh, Beren, highschool times? It was all like that. Apart from the bluntest physical strength demonstrations like holding some pesty guy upside down by the ankles (it's not your fault if some people just piss you off too much too often ;) ), everything changed when some club-mate popped in in his search of the club president aka you who was so unexpectedly and urgently needed up there  , or when you got asked to translate some foreign tongue obscura, when you were called out to receive your certificate with honours heh... That's a typical power issue - no, it's not about brains, it's about precedence of just one more kind - it just looks a bit more intellectual than pure muscle orientation, but it's just the same issue. But of course nothing works better than these temporal earthly belongings... No better stimilus than a good car, fat wallet, shiny cufflinks or others of the sort, not that posh thingies would work better than other manifestations of roughly equal money worth: gold or 'gold' necklaces typically worn by members of some subculture walking around in jumpsuits and listening to dance genre aren't lagging behind, to say the least

Yago's Illusions are shattered. He always thought, women liked his brown eyes, sense of humour, intellectual capabilities and his charming personality. But seems it was only the confidence in the wallet in his pocket and the money jingling within.

If a woman ever comes to the conclusion, that there is going to be enough money in the wallet to secure the future of her babies. RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN.

It's only one oath. But binding for life !!!!!!

LOL I guess it was only a matter of time before someone would come up with a topic like this. We already had a "breasts" thread, what's next ? :D

From a purely biological standpoint, such things are indicative of high levels of testosterone, and therefore fertility. I seem to remember some study done which compared women's responses to male faces with more "rugged" features indicative of high testosterone (let's call him Bond) and those with features indicative of lower testosterone (let's call him Leo). Anyway, the study suggested that women at the peak of their fertility cycle prefer Bond, and the others prefer Leo. The hypothesis was that the biological drive is to have kids with Bond, and then have Leo stick around to handle the extra workload that kids bring.

Critical miss does a humerous take on the issue of male attractiveness to women- calling it the "Gorrila-Chimp hypothesis"

Critical Miss's take on the study I mentioned
A female response to the article
Also, the IMHO and feedback sections for issues 5 and 6 have some interesting responses to it.

Heh, late but still. You're wiser than you appear ;) But wisdom never comes without pain :shake:

@Ironbeard: Well, similar could be said of men - big 'assets' for Sean Bond... I mean James Bond :D and small ones for Leo - which isn't really true. The matter is that it's only a generalisation, therefore a fragile structure prone to collapse. Not even mere exceptions - it's just that arithmetical mediana is only maths... Another thing is that attraction in case of humans doesn't rely solely on the intensity of the strictly biological part of sexual desire towards an object (animal females can't be aroused by money ;) ).

But there's one point I just have to agree with - most of them fall for intestosteronated studs with whom they have fun and thus children, while later on they would like a more reasonable one to keep the show going.

Chevalier, I have to ask - you're barely 20 years old. On what breadth of experience do you base the following gross generalization:

I like beards, they look very masculine. Also long hair....Maybe it dates back to prehistoric times when nobody shaved or cut theirr hair and they just said 'Ug' ;) Hey, sounds a bit like these days............... :)

Let me express this another way.

Most women are attracted to the following:

    Intellegence
    Wisdom
    Warmth
    Honesty
    Charisma
    Strength (body and mind)
    Heart
    Thoughtfulness
    Kindness
Physical attraction (which means different things for different women)

Basically, men and women want the same thing, a good companion, whom they are attracted to. This does of course vary with each person, but it's not rocket science.

[IMG] Things must be different in the Heartland, because here, women look for:

    Education
    Career Potential
    wealth
then all that stuff you mentioned

When I tell women I meet that I am a lawyer, I can see those little calculators working!!!

Not every woman is attracted to obscene amounts of power or money. And as far as that goes, it's not about the career or the money or the car you drive.... it's about the whether or not you show the desire to have some sense of responsibility or desires, or hopes or aspirations. I can't speak for others, again, but a boring, stick-in-the-mud kinda guy that happens to have millions is still a boring, stick-in-the-mud kinda guy. No amount of money is going to change that, and someone who's willing to marry the money instead of the person is someone who needs to get their head out of their butt. Or are just overly pragmatic, but who am I to say?
The thing that disturbs me most is the number of bitter men here who are willing to lump all women into a category of shallow, money-grubbing shrews who are willing to be with someone who's rich over someone who's interesting. Just a note: Not everyone is the same. Even women.

And as a side note, I used to have a step-father who was very rich and very much a bastard. And so were all of his wealthy friends. While it may be true that birds of a feather flock together, I'm still sticking with the premise that money isn't everything.

So it's not so much the amount of money you have, as what you do with it? That would be good because then you could find someone with similar interests. For example, if you're giving lots of money to charity and to helping people, hopefully you'll attract a charitable woman.

[IMG] Geez. You guys really think you can analyze women and put them in a box? Please.

All I really care about is: are women attracted to me? :D :D :D

Heh, it indeed seems strange, doesn't it? Let's just say my life has been fairly non-standard, a bit too much eventful even for my twisted liking, I've also seen a bit in people, read too much, have had some morbid fascination with psychology, am overly philosophical, too much of a thinker and too intelligent for my own good but not enough to make things go swiftly. Also have often been taken for a 30+ year old man with accomplished education and some place in life (teacher most of times, I don't know if that's good ;) ). Plus there's some empathy, people smart whatever that makes it easy for me to discern lies, know motivations, emotions etc. Probably I should heed to career advice and become a priest instead of lawyer ;)

Note though that I'm not saying I'm some oracle. I may well be mistaken as I'm only a man, but I just don't think so. As for accuracy, it's not 100% accurate as a generalisation can't be, but for sure much more accurate than saying men love boobs (sorry for the word, it's a sarcastic remark actually) and love them big - which this topic takes revenge for :D .

As for my generalisation itself, I suppose some further explanation wouldn't hurt. So: 'would like' doesn't mean follow the liking and, before someone twists the meaning, and the range of the generalisation is by no means limited to the example given. In fact I intend it to be as general as it can be with practically all analogies that could possibly come to mind.

Women, like men, are just as likely to be attracted to people who are bad for them. Some women like danger and excitement -- they write sexually explicit letters to men in prison. Then they are surprised when the guy starts stalking them and killing their pets after parole. These women are also known as "morons". Some women like money -- they are known as gold diggers. Some women like looks, and these are the closest to the average man. Some women like long hair, others like short hair. Some chicks dig muscles, others don't. Just like guys. There's really no rhyme or reason to the desires that burn within the hearts of each gender.

I am with Satiana and Dragon's Jewel in this one... it's quite often the confidence and the other things power/money/other stuff gives as an added bonus.

I admit, i find power quite atteactive. I do not go for muscles, nor bodily hair. But I do find power quite attractive. Maybe it is the confidence? Maybe it is all the other things that go with it? Maybe it is just me being a total ***** and thinking a powerful man can be of use to me. Dunno.

But I know one thing. Power, money, looks or ANYTHING else cannot help if the guy is a total ***hole. Or a dork.

(Hmm... weird ideas fill up my head)
