Why do Europeans (and Australia, Canada, Japan, etc.) support monarchism?

    Let me elaborate -- many of those properties belong to the royal family simply because for centuries they were the government. Now, if we were to strip them of their status as the heads of State, then they would be merely a family. Any lands that were held by them by virtue of their being the government should be ceded to the actual government of today -- that is to say, the elected government.

    If that is too radical, then they should at least have to start paying the taxes on such lands just like everyone else does -- no free rides for being from a lucky family. One law to rule them all, one law to bind them, one law for every soul, from root to leaf on stem (my way of saying every socioeconomic part of the society, didn't have much time to write this little parody).

    Heck, they should pay BACK taxes for the last couple of hundred years. That'd learn 'em for being elitist douches.
