    Ha! I must be a triple dork becuse I used the console on the Apple ][e to actually write the machine language in hex to program a little animated guy that walked across the screen! None of that "JSR" assembly language nicety for me! :lol:

    Back to Win7....

    These new "I'm a PC and Win7 was *MY* idea" commercials are annoying and misleading. Everyone knows Win7 was first thought of by Microsoft's monkey code writers working in Chinese sweatshops.... :bad:

    But seriously, RC1 has a boot time nag screen about activation, and all personalization gets reset to nothing on each boot. It’s easy to click “Activate Later” and to select a theme every time I boot to Win7, but it has pop-ups that nag about activation about once an hour or so...and when I was playing Bioshock, the taskbar suddenly came up in the game – flashing like crazy – with a balloon nagging me to activate. I had to pause the game, go to the desktop, and manually close the balloon before continuing with my game. :skeptic:
    Who would have thought that M$ wanted money from us Beta testers...I figured we’d get a free copy since we played guinea pigs for them. :shake:

    Man, those were the days. They are gone now, probably for good. MS was always the best at handing out tons of freebies to anyone who worked in the technology channel. The PC business has gone from riches to rags, I guess. :(

    I just got my upgrade disk from Dell. Do I need to back up all my personal files? Will the upgrade knock my pc back to its default state, or will it just make changes to the O/S?

    Upgrade from what, XP or Vista? With XP, you need to make a brand new install and start from scratch. But that's really the best way to do whenever possible - upgrades rarely work 100%.
