And if XP's SP2 was any inclination... That date will get pushed back to late Q4.

Anyone know when M$ will stop supporting XP. :hmm: :rolling:

Mainstream support will end in 2009. Extended support (paid support and security updates) in 2014. So the SP3 planned to be released in 2008 will most likely be the last SP for XP.

My vista install was a dream. I build my pc myself and can say that it was far easier to install vista than xp. No need to load the hdd drivers by floppy.

The thing is that you need new stuff inside your pc, or at least well supported. The virusscanner did not work whit vista, so did the new one(kaspersky). But I used the code on the downloaded vista version whitout any trouble.

The second thing was my elderly soundcard, a soundblaster audigy2 zs. No way it would work. But I used a p35 gigabyte mainboard whit very good sound. The razor mouse was no problem.

Is runs nice, so far it is stable whit 2 gig ddr2-800. Nothing is overclocked. 32 bit home premium

I having problems with Vista at the moment and also thinking of downgrading back to windows xp. Playing Neverwinter Nights 2 with Vista is horrible. Every 3 seconds my frame rates half and the game stutters. I've got a very decent laptop with a Geforce go 7900 graphics card, 2gb ram and T7200 2Ghz Intel Dual Core processors. Yet the performance on my laptop with games is horrendous. Unless microsoft release some kind of patch for vista, i can only see myself go back to xp.

I wouldn't say it's a "downgrade", since they are two completely different systems. Much like comparing Linux and Mac.

Changeable in the Bios I believe. Perhaps the default amount of memory alloted is to low. I do not own laptops so I have never been in the bios of one.

click: start, control panel, system and maintenance, system. Look at memory ram It goes up by units of 512 (1024, 2048) I this number is Off your memory is shared. But like I said I am not an expert on lapktops.

But it is still strange because you have a good pc. And microsoft is updating almoste evey week

I've had no problem with NW2, nor with NWN1, on Win Vista. I've been running it for several months and have had only a few minor issues with it - mostly driver and compatiblilty issues. A large number of my older progarms just don't work with it, which is disappointing. But for the most part, it's been pretty smooth. I still run XP on a separate partition with a multiple start up menu. And that works very well also.

Is it possible that there are programs running in the background while you are playing NWN2? Both programs are hardware hogs, and even an anti-virus program running at the same time could be causing proplems during gameplay.
