[IMG] Then does this not negate the reason for having a wizardslayer in the first place? Assuming that many mages ignore the wizardslayer abilities from both ranged and melee attacks, then why do so many people like the kit? :hmm: Or does it not occur that often (and maybe Leslie ran into a string of bad luck when he tried it with a bow)?

my bad, and the post is up too high now for an edit to be worthwhile -- I was referring to Wizard Slayers -- with full grand Mastery with darts, they should get 4 attacks per round, correct? Now, that's 4 chances per round to disrupt spellcasting. My theory of a wizard slayer is not the barbarian one of 2e PnP, but rather someone who is definitely a warrior, but one who works by wit and not brute force. I think it's a great kit for a gnome fighter -- sneaky, agile, targets mages from the shadows, it's all good!

I don't think specialisation or grand mastery gives extra attacks for missile weapons.

PlanetBaldursGate says that it applies only to melee.

BTW, Gamebanshee states that the level 7 and 13 attack bonuses are for melee only as well.

Of course, 3 attacks for darts isn't too shabby anyway.

Actually, IIRC a fighter with GM has more attacks than a fighter with Profiencent.

Also, I think you can get up to 5 attacks per round with Darts.

    Splunge,
I tested WS on Rayic Gethras and on that Yuan-Ti mage (guarding the key) in D'Arnise Hold. I hit them many times with a bow (and throwing dagger - Boomerang) and there was never a spell failure. Then I used a melee weapon (Lilarcor) and then I got the spell failed message.

I always thought of a wizardslayer as a real magic-hater and as a result, I thought of him as the total opposite of a magic-user. So instead of an intelligent, reasonable, phisically weak mage, we'd have a phisically forimidable fighter that is blinded by his hate for magic (and I thus thought of some sort of a barbarian/berserker).
