The third place game was really fun to watch, good to see the players just go out with nothing to lose.

And Diego Forlan... what can I say, he's my homeboy from FIFA 2006 :p

    Portugal.

We Dutch always win the fair play cup and leave a tournament early. Not this time. On toe.... Second again for the third time second.

Was walking past parliament buildings today after lunch, and saw huge number of people lining the street for no clear reason. Seems there was a parade on, celebrating our world cup run. Cute little thing - so typically New Zealand that I couldn't help laughing. Four small floats, one with a band, one with some junior football team on (no clue who they were), one with our only professional football team and one with the All Whites. And then some kid carrying a sign saying "Welcome home All Whites. Congratulations" or some such. Such a small, casual event, yet so many people gather. It was nice to see people celebrating so much, despite the fact we didn't even make it out of the pool rounds.

The craziest part was that Argentinian club Boca Juniors happened to be in town so they got to be part of the parade. Just bizarre that people would line up to cheer the All Whites AND Boca Juniors as part of the same parade. Bizarre.

But go the All Whites! Unbeaten!

Well, New Zealand *was* the only undefeated team in the World Cup, so I guess they deserved a parade! :)

The NZ parade is certainly a parade I wouldn't mind going to. :) (and I hate crowds :p )

Rotku: Boca Juniors is a popular (and successful) Argentinian club. They have fans all over the world. Since they are a South American club, and Copa Libertadores doesn't get as much media coverage outside South America (I could be wrong on this, mind you) as the European Champions' League, they are not a household name in the same degree like, um... some major English or Italian club. (:p) Still they are well known, especially with people that follow South American club football, or those betting on football, for example.

So they're not actually junior players then? I thought some of them looked a bit old to be juniors.
