right, I've been away on forced community service and missed the last 2 games, so here're my late reactions:

France 1-0 over Brazil? Quite a surprise to me. Looks like there's some fire in Zidane left. Thought that he'd used it all up against Spain.

Italy 3-0 over Ukraine, saw it coming.

Portugal over England in penalty kicks. Was actually rooting for Portugal but thought England would take it.

My biggest reaction? Saw the Germany v Argentina game in a bar. The ratio of us Argentina fans to the German fans was like 8:1. I can't believe they lost. I took huge quantities of **** from my friend who was backing Germany  if they win the Cup I'll never hear the end of it

I missed all the quarter finals due to a music festival but came back this afternoon and saw most of the replay of the Brazil - France game. I must say that it brought tears to my eyes to see the best player I have ever seen playing rise up for one last tournament after much criticism and show that he belongs with the likes of Maradona, Pelé and Cruyff. Zinedine Zidane, the best player the world has seen since Maradona went haywire, he has led France to one World Cup and one EC and I would not be surprised if he leads them to another World Cup. A France with Zidane, Henry, Viera, Mäkele, Ribery, Thuram and more working as a team and in great form is lethal and the only team I see really being able to stand up to them is a Germany full of inspiration and the joy of the game.

As for England, you aint better than this, it wasnt bad luck, it was happenstance this is how good you are. It isnt the 19th century no more where you invented the game and reigned supreme, heck it isnt even 1966 no more. You are a nation that can field a team that might get to a quarter final and then no more, kinda like Spain and only slightly above teams like Sweden or USA. Also the cocker spaniel like quality of the English nerves when it comes to penalty kicks is pathetic. English like to boast and claim that they are the tough guys, the real men of football and that shaved Italians and prissy Frenchmen are sissies but how come it is always the English that breakdown in a collective nervous breakdown when it is time for penalty kicks? Be glad for the quarter final spot, it is as good as it is ever going to get and there is no shame in that.

The problem is, with the team of players we have we should be capable of much better. It's depressing and extremely annoying for England supporters, but it's such a regular thing that I'm pretty used to it now!

England are the most supported team in the world, but probably the most frustrating. It's a good job our fans are loyal  .

Sorry BA, was cheering for England and thought they deserved it, especially outplaying Portugal with 10 men... but it thinks look promising for England for the next go around (any more thoughts on McClaren?)...

Tho sadly I'm reminded of my post from the first thread (April 9):

    See the future, I do...

How are Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney ever going to be able to play together at Manchester United now?

You've always got to make a comment, haven't you? Ok then, who consistently takes more support to big tournaments than England? (excepting the home nations, and Poland this time, which is obvious to see why).

I'm getting a bit tired of you now mate. You take every opportunity to have a pop at England, even when nobody backs you up (Portugal the better team indeed). What's your problem?

Oh, and if you DO have to throw your tuppence in every 5 seconds, at least explain yourself rather than give a one word reply :p .

The last person on here I saw as abrasive as you was that Russian kid who was on here, but got escorted out of the building  .

    Got anything to prove that?

I do support England, I did in the quarter final and mildly against Ecuador(the only reason I didn't cheer for them is because it's better to have the good teams kicked out early), I'm just not completely biased for them like one from, let's say, England is.

Considered it a bull**** claim, didn't deserve more than one word.

He was warned several times, both in public and private. I've not been warned here, once, I think, even after Tal came in here and apprehended some.

I don't know mate, I'd like it to be Terry. His tears yesterday as we went out is all the reason why for me. He's so passionate, plays with his heart on his sleave and is a natural born leader.

I never rated Beckham as a captain anyway really.

He wasn't the only one crying. Rio was bawling too. They were all passionate. You need the man who's going to be there for Euro 2008, and also someone who can work with McLaren.

Well, at any given time during this tournament there were over 100,000 England supporters around the stadiums. Find me someone, other than Germany and Poland who took more? We also outnumbered everyone else in Portugal a few years back. So prove me wrong, boyo :p .

What a load of old cadswallop  . I've never seen one post from you giving England even remote support! You're always just having digs. Everyone I've spoke to has said England were the better team and did not get what they deserved. That also includes people on the internet from all sorts of countries on message boards :thumb: . You lick Italian booty (even though you're a Swede...) but don't offer anyone else support, least of all England, so don't try and pretend you do... :p

Regardless of what you thought to it, aren't one word answers against forum rules old boy? :thumb:

I can't be arsed to argue with you on here anyway, got better things to do with my time, there's BBQ to eat and beer to drink  . Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that (or agree that you're wrong  ).

Terry'll be there in 2008, 2010 and 2012 probably as well. He's captain at Chelsea, in a team of stars, I think he'd make a prime choice myself.

Seriously, got any source for that other than hearsaying?

Otherwise, I'm gonna say that Sweden have one million supporters at every stadium every day, INSIDE, even on matchdays.

I don't post everything I think, but when England lost against Portugal, we were down back here. When they won against Ecuador, we cheered(even though the game was really boring). The only time I've really cheered against England during the tournament was against Sweden, and mildly against TNT, as it would be fun to see them pass to the second round.

And I support other teams. Italy first, Sweden second, Germany third, Poland fourth, anyone against France fifth, and then it's mostly for the underdogs. England is not some hate team for me however, it's their fans with their "we WOULD have won the entire tournament, scored every goal, and saved every shot, if it were not for this and this and that. And the referee. And stupid (Insert player here) who ****ed up at (crucial moment here) who I'll never forget. Until he scores, that is" - attitude.

It may be against the rules, but meh, did not have that in my mind at the moment. I'll edit it.

Sure. One, Two, Three, Four. That's enough to be getting on with for now. The last one is particularly interesting. Just search on Googole, I got those from the 1st page of search results.

Well, that's good then, but don't expect me to know that when you don't write it on here (which is all o know of you). If you support England, then let it be known here.

Who's had that attitude so far? Have you seen me with it? I think not. That's a fairy tale my friend.

Ok, I'll repeat the 2nd sentence of that then. Have you seen me with it? I think not. That's a fairy tale my friend.

I'll admit some are like it, but that happens with every nations fans really. And in every sport to be honest.

Just lay off the beer, Barmy. It seems like you're always rambling on in what appears to be some drunken stupor about the England team and how the other team is filled with the scum of the earth.

Please refer to my other postings, Earl Grey, and you will see I've not reacted like that at all. I've echo'd what many others have said, that England were the better team and didn't deserve to lose.

    So now go :) .

    @ Rutowski -
@ Early Grey - I disagree, yes we have complained about Portugals and Ronaldo's (in particular) conduct but have by no means stated "how the other team is filled with the scum of the earth". And myself and Barmy will be the first to admit England have not played anything like what they can play and apart from the first half against Paraguay, and last half against Portugal. Infact im quite dissapointed with England's performances but we did not deserve to lose against Portugal they were awfull even with a man extra and thats all our posts have stated.
