Wow, Female PCs really get the heel in the romance department

Well, if we want to get really creative with romances, how about a female PC/Firkraag one (assuming the 'romancing' part would occur with Firkraag in human form)? Personally, I like the whole living/undead romance angle, such as one with Bodhi or Valen (perhaps ideal for a necromancer). One can just imagine the further possibilities: taking a stroll through the park while holding hands with a djinn, smooching a mind flayer, or even cuddling with a beholder.

Illithids and Beholders consider other species as no different then animals on a cultural level, making a standard beholder or illithid impossible to romance (it doesn't help that illithids are linked to an eldar brain either).

An illithid that somehow managed to get cut off from the eldar brain and raised in a non-illithid culture might work (though I can't imagine what race would be willing to raise such a little monster, halflings maybe?). Beholders might become very difficult on an anatomical level.

guaranteed any creature with an intelligence score of 8 (some humaniods with even lower intelligence can do it as well) and the right anatomical parts can breed with races outside their species.

/\ I should've been more clear in that I'm not necessarily equating romance with sexual intimacy, which is why I used terms like 'cuddling' and 'smooching' in discussing extra-species possibilities--I'm thinking more along the lines of emotional intimacy in certain cases, as outlandish as those may seem. :heh:

I just figured if there was a chance to reproduce, there was a chance for romance, since, typically, reproduction is the ultimate goal of one's animal workings.

Since a Wizard can't reproduce with his cat familiar regardless of how intelligent his cat familiar is, I figure it puts a stop to the romance. :D .

Since Elemental Princes can reproduce with humans, I can't see why you can't have a romance. At the very least the Elemental Prince has to go through the gestures of courtship before he gets the "prize".

No no no, don't go there, please. You're opening the "homosexuals can't reproduce" can of worms, which is bad. Romance equals affection, leave it at that.

While homosexuals can't reproduce, there are at least anatomical similarities between two male humaniods. Something that mage and his familiar don't have.

Seeing as Dragons on average have such high intelligence, I assume they can see beauty on multiple different levels and therefore bypass the anatomical differences.

I suppose on a purely emotional level... can't even imagine trying to get the "pieces to fit".
