    Blades, for humanity's sake....please tell me you're kidding. :doh:

    There was one guy who came to my wedding dressed as the typical redneck (overly tight jeans, cowboy boots, plaid shirt, and a cowboy hat). I didn't know him, and I thought it was downright disrespectful to show up at a wedding looking like you just strolled in off the farm. :toofar:

    Speaking of people and unemployment....I had to bring some papers to HR yesterday, but the entire HR staff was MIA. Turns out that they were doing mass interviews to fill 20+ newly created positions (that's how I was hired BTW). Anyway, I walked down to the conference room where it usually goes down, and I almost /facepalmed when I walked in. Looking over the crowd of 50 or so, only a handful of them were dressed appropriately for a job interview! :shake: I s**t you not, one guy up front had messy hair that looked like he just rolled out of bed and he was wearing dirty jeans and a wrinkly white under shirt...not a white dress shirt. If I see him in the clean room 2 weeks from now, I'll know for sure society has failed. :rolleyes:

    No joke Kit. I dubbed the hall where the reception was held as "Hill-billy Hall" to my wife. I really didn't think there were that many of them left out there. I sure was wrong.

    @Kits, Blades

    For college we had to develop a 3D game for some Dutch-Chinese investors. The game was created for some big interactivity-convention which was set up by the Chinese-Dutch investment consortium (never heard of them, but they apparently have money) some big parties were involved such as the Dutch and Chinese Ministries of Foreign affairs and their Ministries of Economy, so it was quite serious.
    For this game, another project group from a different college was involved. Same course, Computer Science, but a different institution. Those people were utter idiots. I'll tell you one of the (many) reasons. We had to present the game at the convention. We (our project group) all came in suits. People who didn't were sent home. The other project team, no. None of them wore suits. They wore casual. One of those other people was emo and wearing a "Children of Bodom" shirt. Portraying, quite graphically, something along the lines of the ritual slaughtering of human beings, or goats, or human beings and goats. With Satanic symbols, upside down, in red, and some dark Gothic letters, etc. You get the point. Needless to say, everyone was not amused. Not even the emo was amused, but I guess that's just physically impossible for them.

    Beach weddings are exempt. You're *supposed* to wear a loose fitting shirt and shorts. The beach wedding I was a groomsmen at we wore a black short sleeved shirt with the top two buttons undone, baggy shorts, and flip-flops.

    The degree plans were very similar at my university. After being in the CW program for my 3rd year, I switched in year 4 to literature and moved my CW classes to English electives in my literature degree plan - I had the best of both worlds. But your university may be different in this regard. However, I still ended up sticking around for an extra year (just part-time) to do some work in Medieval and Renaissance history. :)

    I'm going to have a history minor to go along with my English major. I'm just thinking that what I might do is tack on an extra semester and do a concentration in both Lit and CW so I can have the best of both worlds. I still remember how some friends looked at me like I was insane when they found out that my 'fluff' class for last summer semester, when I needed an extra class to stay on as a work-study, was a 200 level literature course that dealt with books such as the Odyssey, Dante's Inferno, etc., and I had a blast with it. I'm also currently working on fleshing out a story that has been marinating in my brain for the past few weeks which is a bit of a modern day fantasy story where a girl from the present finds herself in the fantasy worlds she creates in her novels... with a humorous twist. I hope it works out lol.

    Having just acquired a new thing on eBay, I called the seller to determine where to pick it up. When he told me the address, I told him that I would find the way, as I was looking at the satellite imagery on Google Earth. I even know what colour the house is and where the entrances are. I then used some way finder program to calculate the best way to get there.

    Technological progress has everybody the means to navigate his ways around town using ... satellite imagery and GPS. Twenty years ago it took a map and perhaps a compass. Crazy.

    I had to head to a shop to pick up a vivarium for my gecko, and I knew the address, but not how to get there. I had google make me a route, then used Streetview to see the whole route. I could effectively watch someone drive all the way from my place to the shop. Makes it a hell of a lot easier when you know landmarks to watch out for like that.
