    @ Eltan

18/18 in both wisdom and intelligence gives you more lore than a 19 in intelligence and a 17 in wisdom. Both intelligence and wisdom can give you modifications to your lore value, but having a high wisdom gives you a bigger bonus than having a high intelligence.

It's not a particularly big difference, mind you. I can't remember exactly, but the difference I believe is only 5.

My first and most successful party was:

    Human Paladin LG
    Elf Ranger NG
    Elf Fighter/Thief NG
    Half-Elf Fighter/Druid TN
    Half-Elf Cleric/Mage LG
    Human Bard CN

My thoughts for my next party are:

    1. Human Paladin LG
    2. Dwarf Fighter LE
    3. Halfling Fighter/Thief CG
    4. Half-elf Cleric LN
    5. Elf Fighter/Mage CG
    6. Human Bard NG

Why do you have that many multiclass characters?
You loose a couple of levels. Seems to me it would be better to have a party with only singleclass characters.

    Generally my parties have either:

    3 fighter types.
    1 thief
    1 cleric
    1 mage

    or

    2 fighters
    1 thief
    1 cleric
    2 mages

And that works great every time.
The cleric can be used in close combat since the lack of abilities is made up by powerful weapons and spells. The thief is equipped with a bow and either long or short sword depending of what I got in stock.

I've always found that a single-class thief isn't really needed in IWD, and a fighter thief makes him more combat oriented especially when scouting and backstabbing. Give him the halfling helmet and he rocks.

Since playing BG1 and BG2 again, I might use a single class mage of some sort. But there is a cool sword that only fighter/mages can use. I did find that this makes the mage more combat oriented. I need to check the manual again as the opposition school are different between IWD and BG aren't they?

I did find the druid spells excellent at high levels, especially summoning elementals - killed many a giant this way!!

Opposition schools are same in original IWD and Baldur's gate. But in HoW that changes:

    School ------ opposition school(s)
    Abjuration -- Alteration, illusion
    Alteration -- Abjuration, necromancy
    Conjuration - Invocation
    Divination -- Conjuration
    Enchantment - Invocation
    Illusion ---- Necromancy, abjuration
    Invocation -- Divination, conjuration
    Necromancy -- Illusion, enchantment

@Harkle: Thanks for that - I see they've made the conjurer more restrictive now. It now seems as though it might be better to stay with a generalist mage.

Hates it that Illusionists cant learn Necromancy spells. Ruins the perfect mage.

My current one is a party with whom I've never played. Because I was kinda wise guy and replayed with my five characters (where solo, where two or three playing parties) again and again till I reached the absolute cap - 8,000,000 for single-classed characters - my Dwarven Fighter and my Human Paladin reached that and 15,000,000 - my Elven Mage/Thief - or 11,000,000 - my Halflingish Fighter/Thief and my Half-elven Fighter/Cleric. I even wrote about my party and I made biographies for all my characters. I put them in a party and I was quite content, writing biographies for all members e.g. for Dolgan-fighter (Midkemia) and Tasslehof-fighter/thief I wrote that they are from another planes... :) Other were man and wife... :) I even wrote biographies for there finishing in Icewind Dale... :)

So I decided playing with a party with a characters with whom I've never played and I made this party. Ranger, Bard, Druid, Illuzionist... :)

    Elf Ranger
    STR: 18/100

    STR: 18/99

    STR: 18
    DEX: 18
    CONST: 18
    INT: 16

That doesn't say anything to me as i don't watch baywatch or charlies angles, but i'll take it as an explanation. Well, i should post my actual party before complaining about yours, they have some low attributes, too:

    Estreban Diebysteel
    Male Human, Paladin
    18/08 18 18 7 13 18

    Daron Thunderbash
    Male Dwarf, Fighter
    18/100 17 19 9 9 9

    Siral Highprayer
    Female Elf, Cleric
    10 19 16 9 18 15

    Serr Deathfist
    Male Human, Necromancer
    10 18 16 18 18 6

Only for this time. At the moment they are in erm, whats the dwarven city in english? Well, they are actual on their way to Malavon.

Trying a go for the first time with only 2 tanks  I usually go through with 4. We'll see how it goes, ain't bad so far. Also, I've never used a bard before. Interesting. I love how quickly he levels up. May not suck as bad as I thought, but for novelty's sake I had to give him a try. Here's the party:

Male Human Paladin (Greatswords, Halberd, Crossbow)
Female Human Fighter (Large Swords, Mace, Flail, Sling with Shields)
Male Elven Fighter/Thief (***in Bows, Large Sword)
Female Half-Elf Druid (Large Sword, Staff, Sling)
Male Gnomish Illusionist/Cleric (Mace & Shield, Sling)
Male Human Bard (Axes, Short Swords, Crossbow)

Fun so far...just about to start the lower levels of Kressylak's Tomb. We'll see if I get pummeled...

I don't like thieves, so i don't have one. I think IWD is not such a great game for thieves. And my party just kicked Belhifets butt. :rolling:

btw has your dwarf 18 con or is that a mistake?
